Some friends and I went to BOZAR on Saturday to see an exhibition by French artist, Sophie Calle. I didn’t know anything about her work, so walked in not sure what to expect. It was pretty interesting. What grabbed me most was that she actually lived what she was portraying in her art. She didn’t just have a wacky idea in her head….like, what would happen if a private investigator followed her around for a year…and then imagine the results and create from her imagination. Oh no! She actually had her mother hire a private investigator to follow her around Paris for a year snapping photos of her activities. And then she turned it into a story.
In a way less dramatic way, I suppose, it’s how I’d like to think of living my life. Not just dreaming about what it would be like if X, Y or Z happened, but actually seeing what would happen if I made steps in that direction. You know?
I was reading a post on FlowerDust.net yesterday, and she used a line that I really loved: ‘Wanting to stop a story.’
Maybe we have ideas, dreams, hopes that seem pretty fantastic in our heads, even our hearts, but then that little voice called fear creeps in…and we stop the story.
I don’t want to stop the story. This very honest post at Soul City Blog, called Leaving Comfort for Courage, is pretty inspiring to me today.

That show sounds amazing. That would be crazy to hire someone to follow/photo me for a year!
Love it. And that exhibit sounds fabulous!
Rebekah--I'm wondering how someone would catch pics of all the creative stuff you do in your workshop!
