15 Books I Love

These are books I love…they’re the books most likely to be found on my top shelf. They’re the books I grab and steal away with even for just a page or two.

Crossing to Safety
Wallace Stegner
My all-time favorite book. Full stop. A story of people.

O’Pioneers
Willa Cather
This is like chic-lit and nature writing all rolled into one for me.

Out of Africa
Isak Dinesen
Adventure. Love. Landscape of life.

The Road from Coorain
Jill Ker Conway
Reminds me that where you start is rarely where you land.

Interpreter of Maladies
Jhumpa Lahiri
Master short-story teller.

What are people for?
Wendell Berry
Thoughtful. Hopeful. Eloquent.

Traveling Mercies
Anne Lamott
Irreverently reverent.

Made in Detroit
Paul Clemens
Glimpse into growing up in the D in the 50’s and 60’s.

Freakonomics
Steven Levitt
Data shouldn’t define your questions.

The Divine Conspiracy
Dallas Willard
Read. Think. Read again. Think. Read again. Think. Read again.

Dark Fields of the Republic
Adrienne Rich
There is a poem called Movement in this book that, well, moves me.

Practicing
Glenn Kurtz
Doing something you love takes sacrifice and work.

Personal History
Katharine Graham
Inspiring. A full life well-lived.

March
Geraldine Brooks
I love Little Women. And I loved this book from the father's perspective.

To Kill a Mockingbird
Harper Lee
What can I say.
