Hope Rising--Part 7: Our cup runneth over

The Red Wings did it! The Stanley Cup is coming home to Detroit. I found out this morning at breakfast in Russelsheim, Germany where my colleagues and I have been for the past three days. In a totally sweet jesture, one of my colleagues from Paris, who I just met on Tuesday, incorporated the Wings win into his presentation to our team this morning. It was very kind.

Haven't had a chance to read the articles or look through the pics in the Detroit papers, but I am thrilled for the boost that it will bring to downtown...ain't no party like a Deee-troit party cuz a Deee-troit party don't stop. Any word on when the parade will be?

My friend Dick sent this picture of their celebration from Williamsburg, Virgina. Good stuff!

say what you will about Mitch Albom...sometimes the guy still does the best job of capturing a moment.

"Whatever it takes. Today there will be a parade, and over the next week, you'll see the Stanley Cup showing up in hospitals, schools, banks, parties. When a Cup is won, it's not just the team that wins it, it's the whole city, which is why it is the best trophy in sports, and why you cherish the chances to see it."
