It may come as news to some of you that I've turned into a rabid Tigers fan. Maybe it doesn't surprise you that I root root root for the home team. But it's more serious than that...My earliest memories of trips down to Detroit include Tigers games at the old ballpark. I can remember when the Tigers roared in '84. But we've had some lean years. Luckily, my pal Trill helped me adopt his Red Sox during part of this time.
Out of nowhere, the Tigers surprised us all in 2006 with an amazing season. So now some of my fondest memories of my life in Detroit include the Tigers run at the pennant last year. I'll never forget the night Magglio Ordonez (a.k.a. Maggs), my Tiger, hit a walk-off homer that sent us to the World Series.
The City was alive. It was magic. We walked into the CoPa after that game and the song "Oh What a Night" was playing. Oh what a night, indeed!
Now it's hopeless...I have Tiger fever! I've been to six games already this season. If I'm home and the TV is on, the chances are good that the Tigers game is on. Maggs is my #1 Tiger. Nate Robertson is my pitcher--he's pitching right now against the %&$#* Yankees. I wish there was some significant reason why he's my pitcher, but the truth is that he wears cool glasses.
