I was in Lovett Hall at The Henry Ford for a friend's wedding rehearsal. (Thankfully they are getting married on Sunday when the weather is predicted to be lovely.) We were warm and dry inside the Hall as we watched the winds and the rain--sorta blissfully unaware of the destruction going on around us.
When you know you are safe, there is nothing like watching the skies as a big storm rolls in. It humbles me. The clouds, the wind, the lightning, the thunder...sometimes I need a big storm outside to remind me to listen to the winds blowing in my life...
Another Thunder
Thunder rolling like a wave, beating like a heart it is
Wonder, I'm stranded in my steps
Another crack of sound
And it takes my breath away
And I don't want to see it pass over
I'd just like to see it pour
Thunder in the middle of a draught
In the arms of a long hot summer
When only in the nighttimes we breathe
When the sun has gone down
And midnight wraps around
And I don't want to see it pass over
I'd just like to see it pour
Wonder at something bigger than ourselves
Something larger than we know is calling
Stand out in the middle of a storm
Be thankful for a calm that must surely follow
And I don't want to see it pass over
I'd just like to see it pour

On a lighter note, the first game of the Tigers v. the $#! Yankees series was delayed over 4 hours last night due to the weather. They started the game sometime after 11 PM and it went into extra innings. The game finally ended at 3:30 AM with a W for the Tigers. 9-6 Detroit thanks to a 3 run walk-off homer by Carlos Guillen. Bless you boys!
