I've had a great week of fun times with friends from work. On Monday evening, an engineer (and his wife), a lawyer, a policy wonk and me walked into a Panera. It's sounds like the start of a joke, doesn't it?
Our policy wonk friend retired a couple years ago and moved to Williamsburg. He was coming through Detroit, so we manged to grab a quick bite together. He literally taught me everything I know about fuel economy. And with a great deal of patience did his best to spruce up my pivot table skills. (That's an old statistics joke, in case you wondered!)
We couldn't be more different if we tried, but for several years we all fought the good fight together.
Last night, I went to the Tigers game with two other colleagues--one of the smartest/kindest economists ever (right up there with my thesis advisor at Tufts) and a grumpy, but ridiculously smart policy wonk. It was a great game. The Tigers beat the Indians 2-1. Zumaya pitched. And Maggs hit a homerun.
