[The other] JT has a song that says 'the secret of life is enjoying the passage of time'*…and one year ago today I arrived in Brussels for the start of my six-month-turned-longer assignment.
So, last night at midnight I raised a glass of Belgian’s finest with a friend at a super cool bar in Brussels to officially commemorate the 1st of March anniversary.
Ahhh….Brussels! I’m so easily amused, but I love how a year ago, I didn’t know what I didn’t know…and now my life is so much richer and fuller for all of it. The travel, the work....all of it, but mostly the people. So many dear people—folks I didn’t even know existed in the world a year ago—now hold such dear space in my heart, along with all of you.
Honestly, it’s a little weird to feel so settled here. A good weird. Like an unexpected gift I never could’ve seen coming. I wish that somehow you could see into my heart and taste of it…cuz it’s even better than the chocolate!
*funny! this month at the Well we're talking about Meaninglessness (a la Ecclesiastes)...have a feeling we're going to figure out the meaning of life is much more than just the passage of time. i hope [the other] JT has figured that out too! ;-)
