I know half of my friends are celebrating and the other half are cringing, so I’m just going to leave that part off the table. Though I have to say, I sure have received a lot of ‘congratulations’ today from my Euro friends and colleagues regarding our new President-elect. I was on the phone this morning with my relocation consultant, who sits in London, and she must have spent 20 minutes telling me what a positive day it was for her---and she’s a Brit! Regardless of your politics, you have to admit it’s neat to see folks in Detroit celebrating in the streets for something other than a sports championship!
As I walked to work this morning, I couldn't help but hope we don't forget that the changes we're all hungry for have to start with us...and likely in our hearts and our relationships to God and each other. While political leadership is important, it isn't the answer to all that plagues Detroit, the US, or the world. (Hope they don't take away my APSA membership for saying that!)
