Lest you think...

Things have been going remarkably well here in Brussels, despite the fact it has been raining for three days and a glimpse of the sun is as rare as the Mayor of Detroit acting like an adult...

But lest you think it's all chocolates and tulips here...I think my coworker's dog gave me fleas. Woke up Monday morning, after a visit to their home on Sunday evening, with some rather some itchy bumps on my right arm, and a few on my left arm and right leg. Thought perhaps it was an allergic reaction to something, took a Benedryl and tried not to worry about it. (And tried not to think of the bites Scott had last year...yikes!) Yesterday, I noticed that they were not spreading, but were definitely still there. So I stopped at the pharmacy on my way home, and she gave me some hydrocortisone cream, which seems to be helping. In addition, I took a trip to the laundry and washed everything.

After some googling this morning, I'm pretty sure my "flea" assessment is correct. Eeeck. How do I know if they're in my house? The stuff on the internet is frightening and ever since I've confirmed my suspicion, I have the creepy-crawlies.

Hi Jodi,
I'm so glad to hear that you are doing so well! I'm sorry to hear about your itching. I have heard about a "bed bug" issue in Europe over the last few years. I always thought that was stuff they made up for stories from a long time ago, but I guess they are alive and well. Best of Luck!

from what I've heard, I thought that fleas can only live in dense furry things like carpet and pets. I don't think they make nests on human legs. Hopefully they just bit you and stayed at your friend's house and now you're just feeling the affects. But I'm sure you've done plenty of research on flea bites on wikipedia by now : )
