A really wonderful weekend. Full stop. Friday, I met a friend for Mexican…so fun to catch up with Kara over chips and salsa (and a shot of tequila, courtesy of her stylist sitting behind us). Saturday morning, I met Linda and extraordinary Elijah for a wander through Eastern Market. I love learning from Linda---she keeps trying to teach me about cuts of meat, and while raw chicken will probably always gross me out, it’s always good times hanging out with her.
But, of course, the pièce de résistance was the Fort Street Chorale’s performances of Handel’s Messiah on Saturday and Sunday. I realize not everyone shares my enthusiasm for this piece (special thanks to Jill, Mike, Mark and Meether for coming to the concerts!)…but I seriously can’t get enough.
I enjoyed singing even more this year…I had a little more confidence than the first time around…the ladies who have sung for 20 years or more tell me it just gets better and better after you have a few performances under your belt.
You’d love the folks in the Chorale. They warm my heart. Though I’m a sucker for a group of people who love each other………and the fact that they love music is almost just a bonus!
Of course, the text of Messiah makes it all worthwhile too. It speaks right into my heart; teaching, affirming, convicting, reminding, encouraging…and all the other things the Word of God does.
After Sunday’s performance, we gathered at a Chorale member’s home for an after-glow celebration……….and it’s possible I’m still glowing today!
‘But thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ…’

I'm so happy that you got to sing Messiah! It's an amazing piece of music and I love to sing it as well. Keep sharing the blessings-- and Merry Christmas! Love, Liane
Are you enjoying the snow? I saw the snowball fight at the UW and smiled! Messiah was indeed a real treat! I hope your singing is going well too. Merry Christmas to you and your family too! xox
