I am...I need

Thanks for your prayers and encouragement last week during Serve the City. It was a great week all the way around. For starters, we had non-stop sunshine here in Brussels. Rare in these parts. It is all still a bit of a blur and I haven’t had a chance to really process through all the week’s goodness. Suffice to say, it was a blessing to spend time walking alongside friends in Brussels doing what we could to serve those in our midst. Here’s a sweet video that Brian, one of the super-cool interns, put together of the week set to music by super-cool Parker.

Plenty of stories to tell, and for me personally many are related to God providing opportunities to trust Him more deeply—even in seemingly simple things. For example, I was stressing out about one of the activities planned for Thursday at Foyer Selah (the refugee center where I spent most of the week serving). We had an opportunity to take a handful of people horseback riding outside of Brussels. Seemed like a brilliant idea a month ago, but as the day drew near there seemed to be too many loose ends and I wondered nearly daily if I should cancel the activity. Seriously.

Thursday arrived. And the little group of cowboys and cowgirls piled in a van to head off into the countryside. I stayed behind in Brussels and went about the day---while sending up little prayers left and right trusting things were going okay out on the ranch.

I didn’t get to speak to a friend who had joined the horse-fun until late-morning Friday. And as he told me about their day, I knew beyond a doubt that God was in every moment of their time together.

In my journey with God, there are often loose ends that threaten to unravel me at any given moment. But I have this new picture lately of the glory of the Lord being my rear guard (a la Isaiah 58:8). I have to keep walking forward knowing that God is always with me and pray that my life will, even in the uncertainties, point to His faithfulness, His goodness, His glory and His love. And that the God of glory will secure my way.

My name is Jodi.
I am not god.
I need to trust the one God who is I AM.

Fantastic video, especially because you are in it! I was hoping you'd say that Mike D. got too much sun during his visit and was super funny like that time he came to evening church after spending all day at the boat races....heelarious! :) xoxo, Liv

It's true, Jacks! Help me remember...I'm so quick to turn to myself, instead of our good God.
