Today I set off to the St. Gilles market. Having been to the area at night, how hard could it be to find in the day? Probably not hard if you stay on the path, but that's boooooring. So I wandered. Stumbled into a rather lovely park and a beautiful art nouveau neighborhood...then just kept walking until I found a tram line--it's like the modern day trail of breadcrumbs for me. Meandered along the tram line for awhile until the area looked familiar again, hopped on a tram and headed to the Flagey Market to see the flower guy I've been buying flowers from since discovering his stand last year. He seems to appreciate how much my French has improved...ha! I used to just point and smile; now it's more like point, smile and a s'il vous plait.
Strolled home, had a snack on the terrace and did a little reading...Psalm 119 to be exact...rather appropriate:
"You're blessed when you stay on course, walking steadily on the road revealed by God. You're blessed when you follow His directions, doing your best to find them. That's right--you don't go off on your own; you walk straight along the road He set." (v1-3ish)
"How can a young person live a clean life? By carefully reading the map of your Word. I'm single-minded in pursuit of you; don't let me miss the road signs you've posted." (v9-10ish)
"Barricade the road that goes Nowhere; grace me with your clear revelation. I choose the true road to Somewhere, I post your road signs at every curve and corner. I grasp and cling to whatever you tell me; God, don't let me down! I'll run the course you lay out for me if you'll just show me how." (v28-32ish)
"Train me in good common sense; I'm thoroughly committed to living your way. Before I learned to answer you, I wandered all over the place, but now I'm in step with your Word. You are good, and the source of good; train me in your goodness." (v66-68ish)
"Invigorate my soul so I can praise you well, use your decrees to put iron in my soul. And should I wander off like a lost sheep---seek me! I'll recognize the sound of your voice." (v175-176ish)
