Thankful

Up early and off to join friends for some painting in an old house being refurbished and then given away as a surprise (sshhh...don't tell) to a homeless family. Along the way, met a very interesting young person who 'just wants to help...just wants there to be peace in the world.'

Then some lunch and wedding envelope stuffing with some sweet friends, whose blossoming love makes me smile.

With a few minutes to myself in the D, my internal compass headed off to the RiverWalk, where I sat and had a little phone chat with a wise old (as in long-time friend, not years) friend a few states over.

Before I knew it, dearest friend picked me up and we decided to go to the Mall....the Mall? on a Saturday? don't ask. It seemed like a good idea. I chased the toddler, while dear friend tried on shoes.

Then dinner with dear friend and children, a walk....and now the babies are in bed....dear friend and I will have tea and perhaps polish off the piece of cheesecake we've been nursing for a few days.

But first, I checked email and had a lovely little note from a super-dear friend in a far-away place...a slight twinge of missing, but then a giant surge of thankfulness for them overcame me.

It's a long way of saying that I'm thankful for so much. I'm thankful for the people that I can see and touch around me, but also for the people that I know are out there...and even though missing them is not the most fun thing ever...I stand by the fact that I'm so thankful to know you and have you in my life and miss you, cuz not knowing you at all would just be...well, no fun at all.

Thankful! My heart is. I'm so thankful for so many people, near and far and in so many far off places.

Good night, moon. Good night, friends.
