This morning I went back to the Travel Clinic for one last poke-a-roo…for typhoid fever…just want to have all my based covered, I guess…don’t judge. The State Department website says I should have it—so there! Plus I ran into a friend at the Travel Clinic…so that was nice. Then I hopped over to the nearest Metro station to jet to the office and overheard some street musicians playing ‘Romance’ or ‘Spanish Ballad’ and I was transported back to my first months of guitar lessons.
Spanish ballad was the first song I learned to play. During my early lessons with Steven, even before I had even learned a single note on the Mighty Crestwood (ahhh….even though Enriquez has gorgeous sound…I’ll forever adore the Mighty Crestwood), Steven would draw and send me home with a few more notes to the piece each week. Sadly, I never mastered the piece. Got bored. Got lazy. Got distracted by a Tarrega study and a Carulli waltz.
